Description

Cato Lee, a Sino-Thai businessman educated in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States, returns to Thailand after a twenty-year absence to marry and raise a family of ten children. Forced to change his Chinese name to comply with Thai law, he struggles when speaking Thai, the language spoken by his wife and children. More comfortable with Chinese and American ways of life, Cato finds himself facing a number of challenging situations in his native-born country. The blend of languages, cultures, and experiences during his twenty-year absence causes confusion, uncertainty, disorder and even chaos at times as he raises his children with a mix of eastern and western ideologies. One of his children writes this collection of family stories that brings a better understanding of Cato Lee, the father.
